Building upon Northern & Shell's roots within the print publications industry, Westferry Printworks will create hundreds of new jobs. In addition, it will be creating acres of high-quality, publicly accessible and semi-private open space on a previously disused, brownfield industrial site. For decades, the Westferry Printworks Site has been an industrial location cut off from its local surroundings preventing access and permeability to the wider community.
Our vision is to transform the site to create a sustainable, safe, mixed use, waterfront neighbourhood. We want to encourage people to visit, stay, contribute to, and interact with the local surroundings and the wider community. We will do this by providing beautiful, flowing, public routes through large, accessible, green spaces around buildings that utilise quality materials. Every home, regardless of tenure, will be thoughtfully designed with sustainability in mind. The non-residential uses, including the new secondary school and ground floor amenities, will address the needs of the local area.
Our proposals comprise a comprehensive redevelopment of the 6.15 hectare brownfield site formerly occupied by the Westferry Printworks. The proposed scheme will be a residential led mixed use development incorporating 1,358 homes, a 1,200 place secondary school, a rejuvenated dock front, over 2 hectares of public open space together with ground floor amenity including, shops, restaurants, community centre and workspaces.
